School Security Officer (CSSO)

Location: Jonesboro School District Position Type: Full-Time Work Setting: On-site Compensation: Up to $26.00 per hour Schedule: 8-hour shifts Position Overview The Jonesboro School District is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO) to help maintain a secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate will be prepared to respond appropriately to emergencies, support established school safety procedures, and maintain a visible security presence throughout the campus. This role requires sound judgment, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain composed during high-pressure situations.

Key Duties

• Provide a consistent security presence throughout assigned school facilities and surrounding areas.
• Respond to emergencies, security concerns, and critical incidents according to established procedures.
• Take appropriate action during active threat situations.
• Assist school personnel with emergency preparedness, lockdowns, evacuations, and safety exercises.
• Observe campus activity and address potential security concerns.
• Maintain positive and professional interactions with students, faculty, parents, and school administrators.
• Identify and communicate security or safety deficiencies.
• Prepare accurate reports and documentation following incidents or other security-related events.
• Follow all applicable school district and company security policies. Candidate Profile Applicants should demonstrate professionalism, reliability, good judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a school environment.

Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to remain on foot and perform security duties both indoors and outdoors for extended periods. Preferred background: Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
• Military service
• Law enforcement
• Corrections
• Private security
• Emergency response Previous experience in these fields is valuable, although candidates with other relevant backgrounds may also be considered. Required Capabilities Candidates should be comfortable with:
• Firearms and related safety procedures.
• Tactical and emergency response protocols.
• Verbal and written communication.
• Incident documentation and reporting.
• Maintaining situational awareness in a school setting.
• Responding effectively to changing or unexpected circumstances. Screening & Equipment Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required screening procedures, which may include:
• Background investigation
• Drug screening
• Psychological evaluation The selected candidate must also own or be willing to obtain the required duty equipment, including:
• Firearm
• Level 3 retention duty holster
• Duty belt
• Five magazines Training & Development The company will sponsor the required 60-hour Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO) training program for eligible candidates.
