Job description
Alexandria Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry.
We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment - balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care.
In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
- Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Assisting in surgery
- Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
- Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
- Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
Schedule and compensation:
- Compensation:** $18 - $20 **per hour, for each hour worked
- This is a full or part-time position, with availability needed Monday-Friday and every other Saturday.
Full-time Benefits Package:*
- Bonus package: $2,000 based on active, good-standing veterinary technician credentials in the state of Minnesota.
- CE allowance: $500-$1,000 based on tenure and credentials

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

1+ years of veterinary technician experience required

Active and good-standing Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of Minnesota

Proficiency in the following skills:

Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring

Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery

Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography

Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement

Radiology positioning and safety protocols

Medication administration and accurate drug calculations

Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing

Safe, low-stress patient handling and restraint techniques

Client education and communication

Effective teamwork and professional communication skills
