Sacred Heart’s economics programs bring economic theory to life through practical business applications and the examination of current global issues. Adjunct instructors have the opportunity to bring their academic and professional expertise into the classroom while helping students develop the analytical and problem-solving skills needed to evaluate complex economic issues and understand how markets, public policy, and global forces influence business decisions.

Current undergraduate offerings include: Bachelor of Science in Business Economics Minor in Economics Responsibilities: Teach assigned undergraduate economics courses in accordance with established course objectives and academic standards Create an engaging and supportive learning environment Provide students with timely feedback and maintain regular communication throughout the course Collaborate with the department chair and faculty as appropriate Fulfill all responsibilities associated with the assigned course Requirements: A minimum of a master’s degree in economics or a closely related field A terminal degree is preferred Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills Commitment to fostering a collegial and supportive environment in which all members of the University community can thrive and succeed Application Instructions: Qualified applicants are invited to submit a letter of interest, current CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and relevant examples from courses taught (if applicable).

Upon offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to provide one formal letter of recommendation on professional letterhead and an official transcript reflecting their highest earned degree.

Compensation

& Benefits: The salary range for this position is $4,300–$5,400 per 3-credit course. Adjunct Instructors are not eligible to participate in the University’s employee health and welfare benefit programs; however, they are eligible to participate in Sacred Heart University’s 403(b) retirement plan, subject to the terms and eligibility requirements of the plan.
