Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHOH) - Employment Specialist ASL

Employment Specialist – South NJ (Monmouth and Ocean Counties) Shift: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM ( Must be flexible to work evenings & weekends as needed) About Us and Our Program: Easterseals, a national nonprofit, has supported individuals with disabilities for over 50 years. Its Career Pathway Connections program offers person-centered employment services for individuals who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, or hard of hearing, providing ASL-proficient support, workplace accommodations, and assistive technology to remove employment barriers.

What You’ll Do: The Employment Specialist helps individuals with hearing loss secure and maintain competitive employment by fostering independence, building employer partnerships, and identifying workplace supports for long-term success.

Key responsibilities include

Assist consumers in overcoming employment barriers, developing skills, and achieving vocational goals through job coaching and employability training. Develop and execute personalized employment plans using person-centered strategies. Build employer networks and conduct ongoing outreach to promote hiring diversity and program services.

Offer on-the-job training, support, and counseling related to disability and workplace needs. Represent the program at meetings, networking events, and conferences.

Who You Are

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field with one year of experience, an AA degree with two years of experience, or a high school diploma with three years of experience. Experience: Expertise in hearing loss and workplace needs, with skills in addressing business requirements and evaluating job performance.

Requirements

Fluent in ASL with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking skills, adaptable training approach, and proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
