Director of HV Power & Protections - Aerospace

North Logan, UT, USFull-timePosted Oct 9, 2026

Job description

At Electric Power Systems, we design and build advanced energy storage systems that power the next generation of flight, defense, and transportation. Our mission is to advance, connect, and protect our world with unmatched energy innovation, and we're doing it from our headquarters in North Logan, Utah.

The role

We're looking for a leader to take the helm of our Electrical Engineering department. You'll set the direction for the team, shape how it works, and stay close enough to the technical work to guide it from design through testing, qualification, documentation, and release. You'll partner with engineering leadership, cross-functional teams, and senior management to solve the tough problems.

What your days will look like

Expect a mix of strategy and hands-on judgment. You'll run the department's operations and budget, set priorities, and make sure every project has the people and resources it needs. You'll review and approve new or revised electrical designs, test methods, and installation procedures. You'll also make sure aerospace, defense, and industry standards are applied properly and that technical documentation is controlled and released the right way.

You'll build the team, too. That means recruiting, coaching, and mentoring engineers, setting clear expectations, and creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. When you spot a better way to work, you'll drive the change. You'll also represent Electrical Engineering to senior leadership, support customer engagements and proposals, and travel as needed to meet with customers and suppliers.

Who we're looking for

You have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, at least ten years of progressive engineering experience, and five or more years managing engineers. You know electrical engineering inside and out, understand how design, development, testing, and documentation fit together, and make sound technical decisions when problems get complicated. You communicate clearly in writing and in person, juggle competing priorities without missing deadlines, and are comfortable with Microsoft Office and with travel.

It's a bonus if you hold a master's degree, have led an electrical engineering department or similarly significant function, or have worked in aerospace, defense, transportation, or another highly regulated environment. Experience with high-voltage systems, electric propulsion, or energy storage in aerospace, and with applying aerospace standards to design and qualification, would put you at the top of our list.

What great looks like

The best fit is a strategic thinker who can line up resources with company goals, a decision-maker people trust on technical calls, and a leader who develops talent and keeps improving how the team works.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
