Equipment Operator I (Water Distribution) / Public Works

To operate a variety of machinery and equipment in the performance of a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of City streets, water and wastewater lines and related facilities. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement.  When filled from outside, requires direct related work experience.  Participates in labor activities necessary to completing assigned tasks.
