POSITION DETAILS: This position works 40 Weeks per year, 5 days per week at 3 hours per day during lunch and recess. SALARY: $11.70 per hour ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: EVSC employees have access to EVSC Wee Care, our employee-only early learning centers. Wee Care provides a quality early learning experience for children as young as six weeks through age five.

This position is based upon student enrollment in this school building. Fluctuating student enrollment may make it necessary to move an employee to another school building or reduction in hours. Enrollment is evaluated at the start of a new school year. The EVSC works diligently to ensure employees maintain the position that they are hired for but in some cases, transfers may occur in order to effectively serve EVSC students.

SUMMARY: The Flex Assistant provides supervision and support to students during lunch and recess periods to help maintain a safe, orderly, and positive environment. The position assists students with routine needs during meal periods and helps ensure cafeteria and recess areas remain safe and organized.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned. Supervise students during lunch and recess periods, maintaining appropriate student behavior and a safe, orderly environment. Actively monitor students and assigned areas to ensure student safety and compliance with school expectations and procedures. Assist students during meal periods with routine needs, such as opening milk cartons, food packages, and other items.

Monitor cafeteria tables and surrounding areas and assist with picking up trash, spills, or other items as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment. Supervise and assist with the orderly arrival, dismissal, and movement of students to and from lunch, recess, classrooms, and other assigned areas. Provide appropriate assistance and direction to students and respond to student needs or concerns within the scope of the position.

Communicate student behavior, safety concerns, injuries, or other issues to appropriate school staff. Follow established school procedures for student supervision, safety, and emergency situations. Perform limited clerical or general school support duties as assigned. Maintain positive, professional, and respectful interactions with students, staff, parents, and visitors.

Maintain regular attendance. JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of, and in compliance with, corporation policies and state requirements. EDUCATION

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : None LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, parents, and visitors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition and subtraction.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to follow established procedures and instructions and use good judgment in routine situations. Ability to recognize student safety or behavior concerns and seek assistance from appropriate school staff when needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
