Senior Java Developer with AI and LLM

PLEASE NOTE: It is a 100% Onsite position. Selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance Selected candidate must be willing to work on-site in Woodlawn, MD 5 days a week KEY REQUIRED SKILLS: Senior Software Development background in enterprise software development experience such as an extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining service-oriented applications and APIs, including Java Spring Boot applications, RESTful web services, integrating and operationally supporting LLM and agentic AI components within enterprise applications.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Design and develop software applications using Twelve-Factor App methodology from functional requirement Design and develop applications using Java, REST API and spring boot. Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to develop an understanding of needs. Design and develop Microservices using Spring Boot, Java and RESTful architecture.

Develop Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) based Web Services using technologies such as JAX-WS, Apache Axis, and Web Services Description Language (WSDL). Good understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization technologies.

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, QA, and project managers and commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging technologies. Develop unit test cases for every possible Java class with real scenarios using Junit, Mockito and Power Mock frameworks Attend all customer technical discussions/design/development meetings and provide viable technical solutions to further enhance the existing architecture and improve code quality/process.

Provide guidance/support to other junior/mid-level developers. All other duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

Master's and 5+ years of experience, Bachelor's and 7+ years of experience or 13+ years in lieu of a degree 10+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, Gen AI, LLMs Extensive Design and Programming skills in Java and JEE technologies. Experience working on Agile projects and strong knowledge of Agile terminology and tools including Agility.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience in designing high-throughput and low-latency systems using Java, including architecting scalable solutions capable of handling large volumes of concurrent requests with minimal response times. Strong experience with Java, Spring boot, and REST API. Experience integrating and operationally supporting LLM and agentic AI components within enterprise applications, including retrieval-augmented generation and vector search, agent orchestration frameworks, LLM evaluation and guardrail approaches and the deployment, monitoring and automated retraining pipelines.

Technical expertise should include PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL, Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3, Agile software development, Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins CI/CD, Eclipse, code reviews, multi-threaded application development, and production support Experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications onto AWS with PostgreSQL.

Experience with modern software development tools for Continuous Integration including Jenkins, Git/Bit. Bucket, Jira, Nexus, Maven, Jenkins, Sonar. Qube, Fortify, and Urban. Code Deploy. Hands-on Design and development experience on Microservices and RESTful API. Experience with Automated unit test (i.e. JUnit, Mocking frameworks), Test Driven Development (TDD), and Behavior-driven development (BDD) (Cucumber).

Experience with JEE technologies including Struts, Spring Framework (IoC, MVC, Transactions, Security, and Batch), Spring Boot, Spring JDBC, JPA, Hibernate, SOAP/RESTful, XML, DB2, Tomcat, Web. Sphere. Experience with static code analyzers like Sonar. Qube and addressing Sonar. Qube recommended technical debts such as bugs, vulnerabilities, hotspots in the code.

Knowledge of security vulnerabilities in web applications and addressing them. DESIRED SKILLS: Demonstrate a strong understanding of the latest trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and showcase the ability to apply AI knowledge to enhance or redesign existing system architectures, identifying opportunities where AI-driven solutions can add value, improve efficiency, or enable new capabilities.

Exposure to writing Technical White Papers and systems design documents. Prior experience with federal or state governments IT projects.
