Lead HPC Platform System Debug Engineer

Turin, ItalyFull-timePosted Jul 24, 2026

Job description

We are seeking a Lead Platform System Debug Engineer to support software issue investigation, root cause analysis, validation and triage activities, including High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Cabin Zone Control Unit (Cabin ZCU) platforms. The role sits within a cross-functional technical debugging team that operates inside a wider ecosystem of vehicle-domain teams.

Acting as a rapid-response engineer, the individual moves quickly across domains and validation platforms — bench, HIL/Vehicle-in-Loop (ViL), pre-production and production vehicles — to understand issues, perform initial root cause analysis (RCA) and drive triage, before handing problems to the appropriate specialist teams for detailed investigation.

This is primarily a debugging, troubleshooting role rather than a feature-development position. It requires a strong understanding of HPC systems, Base Software (BSW), software architecture, vehicle E&E architecture, diagnostics, software flashing and update processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reproduce and debug software issues raised during bench, HIL/ViL, vehicle and program-validation activities; perform initial root cause analysis and triage.
  • Integrate software components delivered by internal teams and external vendors; run sanity and smoke tests to confirm builds are stable.
  • Reflash builds, execute updates and support FOTA investigations; make small, targeted configuration changes to test hypotheses and verify fixes.
  • Determine issue ownership with specialist and domain teams, and drive agreement on corrective actions and release paths.
  • Document root causes, workarounds and next steps; report findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain and adapt validation setups, including minor bench wiring or hardware changes needed to isolate an issue.

Required Skills

& Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, Automotive Engineering or a comparable field.
  • 5+ years in embedded software debugging, platform integration, system validation or root cause analysis.
  • Strong understanding of automotive E&E architecture, vehicle subsystem interactions and HPC software architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with system-level debugging, issue reproduction, root cause analysis and technical triage.
  • Practical experience with hypervisor-based platforms and working knowledge of QNX and Linux/ Android; familiarity with bootloaders (U-Boot, ABL) and debugging tools (JTAG, Lauterbach, GDB, trace tools).
  • Working knowledge of software flashing, updates and FOTA concepts — project-specific workflows can be learned on the job, but the underlying concepts are required.
  • Diagnostics and communication protocols (UDS, DoIP, SOME/IP, OBD-II, CAN, CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet) and log/trace analysis tools (Logcat, DLT, Wireshark).
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly, coordinate cross-functional investigations and prepare concise technical reports and presentations.
  • Hands-on experience with benches, HIL/VHIL environments and/or vehicle testing.
  • Ability to work mainly on-site in Turin and support exceptional, limited travel when required.

Preferred Skills

  • Qualcomm 7255/8255 or equivalent HPC-class So. Cs (NVIDIA, Intel, Renesas, NXP).
  • Prior work in cross-functional issue-resolution teams or vehicle-integration programs.
  • Depth in one or more infotainment-adjacent domains (displays, cameras, audio, connectivity, driver monitoring, vehicle networking).
  • Issue-tracking, software-release and quality-management processes; production-plant and EOL (End-of-Line) testing exposure.
  • Understanding of AUTOSAR BSW / Adaptive AUTOSAR and ASPICE-compliant workflows. Working Model & Location
  • Based in Turin, Italy, mainly on-site given the hands-on work with benches, vehicles and validation systems.
  • Occasional travel (typically ~10–20%) to production plants, test facilities or test sites to provide on-site debugging support.

Skills: Embedded Debugging,QNX, Adaptive AUTOSAR,ASPICE Testing
