POSITION SUMMARY

The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) will provide medical expertise in the medical treatment of persons seeking gastroenterological care and will properly assess and render appropriate services to those evaluated. This care will be rendered to patients within the hospital setting. The APRN reports to and receives guidance from the supervising physician or physicians.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Evaluate, assess, and make appropriate recommendations on patients seen. Possess the ability to make immediate decisions pertinent to lifesaving situations. Provide call coverage, as needed. Develop a presence in the medical community by working closely with referring physicians. Thorough, accurate, and timely documents in the patient’s electronic medical record.

Accurately and appropriately codes encounters Prescribe medications, controlled and non-controlled, when appropriate. Provide instruction to patients to promote education, knowledge about their medical condition, diagnosis, procedure, or health outcome, and to improve their well-being. Providing leadership to nursing and others working with physicians.

Maintain continuing medical education requirements, as required by license. Exemplifies the Borland Groover “basics” and core values whenever representing the organization. Other duties assigned GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS The APRN must have the ability to read, analyze, ascertain, and interpret medical histories. Requires the ability to handle medical equipment, assess patient health, perform physical exams, handle documents, and manipulate equipment to perform job functions.

Requires the ability to ascertain issues related to patient medical care.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Requires a Physician Assistant or ARNP degree, licensed in the State of Florida Certified NP Excellent verbal and written skills with computer competency are required. Ability to exercise flexibility and adaptability in work habits. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, and sit for an extended period of time. Ability to communicate in English.

Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal range. Ability to use hands, arms, and legs within the specifications of the job. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
