Job description

Our client, a well-established player in the food manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced Quality Control Supervisor to join their team in Coega, Port Elizabeth This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about food safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining world-class quality standards while leading and developing a strong QC team within a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

Ensure all incoming recipes, raw materials, in-process, final product, and packaging material specifications are adhered to and met. Ensure CCP’s, OPRP’s and PRP’s are maintained. Ensure trimming, blending, ageing, filling, flavoring, freezing, canning, blanching, pasteurizing, coding and final product packaging material quality requirements are adhered to and met.

Ensure all junior QC staff (including Line Inspectors, QC Lab Inspectors, QC Technicians, etc.) are adequately trained and assessed against predetermined standards. Report all non-conformances relating to product quality and equipment to the QC Manager and Production Manager. Assist production with root cause analysis, as well as corrective and preventative actions.

Perform quality testing and inspections on raw materials, in-process products, and final products. Ensure full traceability of raw materials, in-process, and final products at all times. Monitor and minimize wastage of raw materials, in-process product, final product, and packaging. Identify and isolate products that do not meet specified quality standards.

Manage and document rework processes in line with approved reworking plans. Collaborate with production to achieve planned targets. Ensure all QC records are completed accurately and signed off timeously. Coordinate and assist with product sampling and pilot trials.

Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric). Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field. Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality control within the food, dairy, or citrus industry. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and GMP principles. Proficient in MS Office. Willingness to work shifts.
