The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse PreK�12 district in Somerset County serving approximately 3,300 students, is seeking a Non- Instructional Paraprofessional. The North Plainfield School District invites applications for a Cafeteria and Recess Non-Instructional Paraprofessional in our Preschool. The hours for this position are 9:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. In this role, you will play a vital role in creating a culture of success where all students thrive. Qualifications

High school diploma required. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, staff, families, and community members. Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, collaboration, and willingness to learn.

Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintains active supervision of students across assigned settings and activities, and monitors hallways, playgrounds, cafeterias, bathrooms, and common areas as assigned. Remains alert, actively engaged, and appropriately positioned to effectively supervise students and maintain safety at all times. Avoids distractions that interfere with active student supervision and assigned safety responsibilities.

Monitors student behavior and assists in maintaining a safe, orderly, and respectful environment. Assists students with cafeteria routines, including seating, food distribution procedures, tray return, cleanup, and orderly dismissal. Circulates throughout assigned areas to maintain visibility, supervision, and student safety.

Assists in preventing, de-escalating, and reporting unsafe or disruptive behavior in accordance with district procedures. Supports students in resolving minor conflicts and seeks administrative assistance when necessary. Assists with organized student movement during transitions and emergency procedures as directed. Reports accidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, safety hazards, and supervision concerns promptly to administration.

Terms of Employment Ten-month position. Salary in accordance with the negotiated agreement. Salary Salary: $21.27 per hour (minimum) to $25.60 per hour (maximum), commensurate with education and experience, in accordance with the negotiated agreement between the North Plainfield Board of Education and the North Plainfield Education Association.
