RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in Healthcare recruitment for Domestic and Overseas candidates for Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Home care and Community care. We are hiring a Senior Medical Scientist- Haematology / Blood Transfusion to a Hospital in Limerick, Ireland. Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours per week) RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to the development of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion service to meet the clinical needs of patients.
Ensure the service aligns with the mission, vision, values and strategic objectives of the Hospital. Participate in the training and development of laboratory staff as required. Support the leadership and training of a skilled laboratory team, fostering positive and effective working relationships. Assist in implementing operational processes in line with best-practice standards to optimise the use of resources.
Participate in the implementation of a patient-centred quality management programme, including performance monitoring, auditing and client satisfaction measures. Actively participate in and promote continuing professional education and research activities. Promote open and effective communication throughout the Hospital.
Demonstrate professional behaviour consistent with the values of the Hospital. Ensure all patient samples are processed accurately and in accordance with standard operating procedures. Maintain strict confidentiality when handling patient and Hospital information. Ensure compliance with Haematology Laboratory policies and record-keeping procedures.
Participate in the evaluation of assays, laboratory equipment, consumables and research projects. Assist the Laboratory Manager in facilitating the training and supervision of students from relevant college courses.
Requirements
Hold a BSc (Hons) in Science (Applied Science) or an equivalent recognised qualification. Hold a Master’s level qualification in a relevant discipline, which is essential for this specialist role. Be registered with CORU or be eligible for registration. Have relevant experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. Demonstrate knowledge of quality management systems within a laboratory setting.
