Location: Downers Grove, Illinois Pay Rate: $31 - $36/hour Shift: Split Shift Covering 2nd and 3rd Hours: To be discussed. Availability to flex between shifts as needed, with possible weekends.

Employees must remain in position for a minimum of one year and successfully complete a 90-day evaluation period. HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE… As an EHS Coordinator , you will play a critical role in creating and maintaining a safe, compliant, and engaged workplace.
You will partner with site leadership and employees to strengthen safety programs, drive regulatory compliance, reduce workplace risks, and promote a culture where safety is a shared responsibility. Through training, investigations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives, you will help ensure operational excellence while protecting our people and workplace.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Administer and support safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and company requirements. Coordinate and deliver safety training, new hire onboarding, and ongoing safety awareness initiatives. Conduct facility inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations. Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, and regulatory compliance reports.
Monitor injury, illness, and incident trends and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Hazard Communication (HazCom), and other core safety programs. Collaborate with employees and leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace risks. Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, workers’ compensation investigations, and related follow-up activities.
Promote continuous improvement through safety initiatives, employee engagement, and best practices. Support site safety committees and daily Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) activities. Serve as backup for critical safety functions during the absence of the Operations Safety Manager. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH… Operations and Production Leadership Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Team Human Resources Maintenance and Engineering Teams Frontline Employees and Supervisors Regulatory Agencies and External Auditors, as needed Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Health Partners WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE… (MUST HAVE) Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety, environmental, manufacturing, industrial, or a related field.
Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Strong communication, presentation, and employee training skills. Experience conducting incident investigations, audits, inspections, and root cause analysis. Ability to maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs throughout the facility.
Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to use computers and office equipment for extended periods. Ability to perform inspections, audits, investigations, and training activities throughout the facility. Occasionally bend, kneel, and stoop. Work Environment Manufacturing and office environment. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and oils typical of food manufacturing facilities.
Minimal travel may be required. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE… (NICE TO HAVE) Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Experience in food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or a highly regulated production environment. OSHA certifications (OSHA 30, OSHA 500/501, or equivalent).
Knowledge of workers’ compensation programs and claims management. Experience with environmental compliance programs and reporting requirements. Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen. Professional certifications such as ASP, GSP, CSP, or CHST. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
