Overview
Medical Records Clerical Coordinator Responsible for receiving and entering information from emails, faxes, tasks, and calls into appropriate sheets and folders, answering calls and assisting callers with medical record requests, scanning paper charts and mail, and uploading records into the EMR system.
Responsibilities
Understands the location of and coordinates storage of all medical records across the Forefront platform, including location of paper records, legacy electronic medical record systems, and current EMRs. Coordinates with clinic staff to identify the type of request for release of patient health information. Raises any concerns regarding highly sensitive information with medical records manager.
Serves as a resource in answering patient, provider, and employee questions/concerns relating to requests for health information. Performs clerical functions which may include: answering telephone calls, copying, and faxing. Maintains confidentiality and performs duties in a compliant and ethical manner at all times. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience in a large medical office or healthcare practice environment preferred; m inimum one year of office experience required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills. Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA confidentiality regulations and related state and federal laws. Ability to understand and become knowledgeable of release of information standards, policies, procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
Intermediate computer skills including proficient keyboarding skills and experience in using Microsoft Office products, electronic mail and/or electronic health information records systems. Must have the ability to comprehend and follow instructions. Must have high attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently, prioritize, problem-solve, and make decisions with good judgment.
Physical Demands Sitting for extended periods. Manual dexterity for typing and computer use. Visual acuity for reading screens and documents. Verbal communication via phone or in person. Please note: This is an onsite role located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. #INDCHY For this position, the base pay is $16.00 per hour. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education, certification, or training.
