Langlais, Superintendent Effective Date 10/2/2026 Status Full-time, hourly Pay Range $28.98 � $36.24 per hour Position Summary The BHP supports students with complex learning and developmental needs in Lewiston Public Schools' multidisciplinary intensive education program. The program is housed within a community school, so students receive individualized programming while learning alongside peers in naturalistic settings. Working under the direction of the special educator, the BHP helps maintain a flexible classroom that promotes learning and personal independence. The BHP helps students build social, executive functioning, and foundational academic skills needed for success in elementary school. The role is part of a highly supported team with a strong program structure and frequent collaboration to help students generalize skills across settings. Essential Requirement: Availability The employee must be available and able to work five (5) days per week, Monday through Friday, according to the Lewiston Public Schools schedule. This is an essential function of the position, not a preference. Students in the program depend on consistent staffing to follow their individualized plans safely. Regular, predictable attendance on every scheduled school day is therefore required. This includes the program-specific calendar, the 6-week summer services period, scheduled summer professional learning days, and Wednesday after-shift professional development sessions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned (see program handbook). Facilitate 1:1, 1:2, and small-group instruction for complex learners, covering academic, behavioral, and functional skills, including generalization and maintenance. Extend instruction across the whole school day: lunch, recess, hallway transitions, peer social opportunities, and transportation.

Implement individualized lesson plans, Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), and Individualized Crisis Behavior Management Plans. Collect individual and group data throughout the school day. Support and teach students using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS). Help set up the classroom and individual student areas, and prepare materials for specialized instruction.

Provide constant attention to students during direct services, including: Following precautions in each PBSP and as directed by the Special Education Teacher, BCBA, or Clinician. Staying calm in unforeseen circumstances and considering variables that may maintain challenging behavior. Dressing appropriately for the role, including closed-toe shoes every day.

Refraining from cell phone use except during personal breaks. Attend Professional Development sessions on Wednesdays after the scheduled shift. Qualifications

98 to $36.24. Perform Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS)-approved behavior response methods, including physical interventions, as trained and certified.
