Bookkeeper & Tax Preparer (QuickBooks Online Specialist)

Job Title: Bookkeeper & Tax Preparer (QuickBooks Online Specialist) Job Salary: $25 /hour - $30/hour Job Schedule: Full-Time (February through April); Part-Time (May through January) Job Location: League City, TX Pre-Employment Requirements: Successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and any applicable assessments Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Tax Preparer to support clients with full-cycle bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll processes, and preparation of individual, business, and corporate tax returns. This position is full-time during tax season and transitions to a flexible part-time schedule during the remainder of the year. Schedule Full-Time: February through April Part-Time: May through January Flexible scheduling based on office needs available outside of tax season.

Essential Duties

& Responsibilities Bookkeeping & Accounting Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online. Record and classify financial transactions. Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts. Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable. Process journal entries and month-end closings.

Maintain general ledger accuracy. Assist with budgeting and cash flow tracking. Payroll & Compliance Process payroll and payroll-related reporting. Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings. Maintain employer tax accounts and compliance records. Assist clients with sales tax reporting and filings. Tax Preparation Prepare and review individual tax returns (Form 1040 and related schedules).

Prepare business returns, including: Sole Proprietorships (Schedule C) Partnerships (Form 1065) S-Corporations (Form 1120-S) C-Corporations (Form 1120) Gather and organize client tax documentation. Identify tax-saving opportunities and deductions. Communicate with clients regarding tax questions and requirements. Assist with IRS and state tax notices when needed.

Client Service Maintain professional relationships with clients. Request and organize financial documents. Provide guidance regarding bookkeeping best practices. Assist clients with QuickBooks Online questions and troubleshooting.

Requirements

Qualifications

3+ years of bookkeeping experience. 3+ years of tax preparation experience. Experience with multi-client bookkeeping. Experience managing multiple entities and related companies. Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency. Experience preparing individual, business, and corporate tax returns. Strong understanding of accounting principles.

Knowledge of payroll processing and payroll tax reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA, or accounting degree. Experience with tax software such as Drake, UltraTax, ProSeries, Lacerte, or TaxAct Professional.
