Medical Coder

Job Title/Position: Medical Coder Reports to: Director of QA Position Summary: Experienced OASIS/Coding Specialist: Certified in Home Health Care Oasis coding. The Medical Coder will focus on coding and OASIS completion accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care: Extensive knowledge of CMS Home Health regulations including OASIS, coding and Plan of Care requirements Advanced computer skills with experience with one or more of Electronic Medical Record solutions Excellent communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excellent written and verbal skills Strong quantitative and analytic skills Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing working environment Excellent interpersonal skills, and an aggressive approach to excellence The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.

1. Home Health coding and OASIS review experience: 1 year
2. HCS-D and Oasis (COS-C or HCS-O) or BCHH-C
3. Some computer experience preferred
4. Working knowledge of medical terminology
5. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order. SKILLS REQUIRED

10. Ability to complete work in a timely manner
11. Required problem solving skills.
12. Prolonged sitting and some standing required. Occasional need to lift, pull, carry and push items weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequent need to stoop, kneel and reach while accessing files. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and staff/patient needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
