Dock Worker/Yard Jockey - Blaine, MN

Job Title: Dock Worker/ Yard Jockey Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.50 based on experience. Hours: Full Time 40 hrs/ M-F 9am to 5pm Manning Transfer, Inc. is an Over the Road and Local Cartage trucking operation that is family owned and operated since 1970. We have many long-time employees and Independent Contractors that have built their career here and call Manning their home.

If you’re looking for a career in the transportation industry there’s no better way to start than working on the loading dock, where you will be taught how to properly read and understand a freight bill, receive, and inspect incoming freight, and load our outbound freight. If you don’t have truck driving experience, we will teach you how to drive a truck, hook up to trailers and move them around our yard.

You will learn the proper way to inspect the truck and trailers by conducting pre-trip & post-trip inspections. Once you have mastered the dock and yard jockey positions including other jobs or tasks and have demonstrated a positive attitude, been proven to be reliable, honest, and self-motivated. New opportunities will become available to you.

Such as becoming a local driver where many of our dock workers have transitioned into getting their class A and started their driving career or becoming a dispatcher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Approximately 80% of Activities Dock Worker/ Yard Jockey position supports the shipping and receiving of freight that crosses the Manning dock. Secures and maintains accurate account of inventory of all the varying products or goods being stored in the warehouse or crossing the dock. Operates forklift and maintains daily forklift inspections and maintenance records. Completes duties as a yard jockey by moving trailers in and out from the yard to the dock, including pre & post truck/ trailer inspections and reports any defects noted to shop personnel immediately. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
• Approximately 20% of Activities Clean, organize and maintain the entire dock/ warehouse area, locker area and break room. Other tasks or jobs assigned by management Physical Demands and Requirements: Must be able to reach, grasp, pull, push, lift and lower with both arms and legs. Must be able to lift/lower 75 lbs. and push/pull loaded pallets or freight weighing more than 75 lbs. with a hand truck. Must be able to lift/lower 100 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to see labels; placards and other markings from a short distance and understand them. Applicants must be able to sit for extended periods of time while operating a forklift while wearing a seatbelt and be able to climb in and out of a forklift numerous time each day. Able to bend and twist on frequent basis Able to climb stairs, ladders, and other elevated surfaces on frequent basis Capable of crawling on occasional basis Capable of working inside and outside under various temperature conditions
