Payroll Administrator
Job description
Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll be involved in all aspects of payroll administration, from processing monthly payroll changes and resolving queries to supporting reporting, compliance and continuous improvement. This is a great opportunity for someone with payroll experience who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and delivering a great service, while continuing to develop their payroll knowledge and expertise.
What you'll be doing: Supporting the accurate and timely processing of monthly payrolls, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, bonuses, commission and statutory payments. Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring all changes are processed correctly and within deadlines. Acting as a point of contact for payroll queries, providing helpful and timely support to colleagues and managers.
Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies, including queries relating to tax, National Insurance, pensions and deductions. Supporting payroll reconciliations, reporting, month-end and year-end activities, including P60s and audits. Ensuring payroll processes comply with HMRC requirements, statutory legislation, pension regulations and data protection standards.
Maintaining accurate employee information within payroll systems. Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and ways of working. Supporting payroll projects, system enhancements and ongoing process improvements. You’ll bring: Previous experience in payroll administration, with a good understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pensions.
Experience using payroll software, alongside strong Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy and analytical skills. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. A proactive approach to problem-solving and resolving queries. Great communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to support colleagues at all levels.
A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with care. Experience using Workday or working in a large, multi-site organisation would be an advantage, as would a CIPP qualification or an interest in working towards one.
