Creative Dining at Calvin University is hiring immediately for a full-time Janitorial General Food Service Employee. Location : 3201 Burton St SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546 Schedule : Full time schedule. Weekends required. Requirement : 1-2 years of experience required.

Job Summary

The Janitorial / GFS (General Facility Services) Worker plays a vital role in maintaining clean, safe, and organized facilities. This position supports daily operations by performing routine and deep cleaning tasks, maintaining restrooms and common areas, handling waste removal, and ensuring all areas meet cleanliness and sanitation standards.

The work of this role directly contributes to a positive experience for guests, staff, and students.

Essential Functions

& Responsibilities Facility Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and sanitize assigned areas, including restrooms, dining spaces, offices, hallways, and common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions. Dust, wipe, and disinfect surfaces such as tables, counters, railings, and fixtures.

Restroom Maintenance Clean, disinfect, and restock restroom supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap). Ensure restrooms remain clean, odor‑free, and presentable throughout the shift. Waste Management Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas. Replace liners and ensure waste areas remain clean and orderly.

Equipment & Supply Use Safely use cleaning tools and equipment such as mops, vacuums, floor machines, and carts. Monitor cleaning supply levels and notify leadership when restocking is needed. Safety & Compliance Follow established safety procedures, chemical handling guidelines, and sanitation standards. Report spills, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly.

Set‑Up & Support Assist with room or area resets as needed (chairs, tables, basic setup). Support special cleaning needs for events, weather conditions, or operational demands. Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to complete assigned duties. Provide assistance or guidance to others when needed.

Additional Duties Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
