Job description
Location: Billings, MT Compensation: $100,000 - $115,000 Annually Relocation Assistance: May be available At Bretz RV & Marine, we believe that outdoor adventures bring families together and create memories that last a lifetime—whether it’s a weekend getaway to the lake, a cross-country road trip, or an off-grid camping trip in the mountains.
When a customer brings their RV or boat to us, they aren't just dropping off a piece of equipment—they’re entrusting us with their vacations, their family investments, and their freedom to explore. Our service department exists to keep that promise alive. Our service managers don't just manage repair orders; they lead the team that gets families back on the road safely, with confidence and peace of mind.
Billings is home to the largest RV service operations in Montana, with over 40,000 square feet of shop space, 35 high-capacity service bays, and a custom 55-foot full downdraft paint booth. From routine maintenance and complex repairs to high-end custom paint jobs on large motorhomes (and the occasional specialized aircraft or helicopter project), our team handles work on a scale few shops ever see.
Running a facility of this size requires real leadership, clear accountability, and a team-first mindset. We don't require previous RV industry experience - we hire proven leaders. If you know how to build a strong culture, take care of your people, keep a big shop flowing, and take extreme ownership of results, you will thrive here.
What You'll Be Doing: Lead and oversee the daily operations of a large, high-volume RV and marine service department. Manage, motivate, and develop a team of service technicians, service advisors, dispatchers, and support staff. Recruit, hire, train, and retain employees who demonstrate strong character, work ethic, and a commitment to teamwork.
Establish clear performance expectations, hold team members accountable, and create a culture of continuous improvement. Monitor department performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability while identifying opportunities for growth. Make timely decisions, prioritize workloads, and resolve operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Work closely with other departments to improve communication, workflow, and the overall customer experience. Take ownership of escalated customer concerns and work toward fair, timely, and effective resolutions. Coach service advisors and team members on customer communication, setting realistic expectations, and following through on commitments.
Ensure customers receive clear, honest, and consistent communication regarding repairs, timelines, and service expectations. Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to step in when needed. Develop and implement processes that improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall department performance.
What You'll Bring
Proven experience successfully leading and developing teams in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees, build accountability, and drive department performance. Experience in automotive service, construction, skilled trades, military leadership, or other high-output operational environments is preferred.
Ability to recruit, train, coach, and retain a high-performing team. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to make decisions under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with employees, customers, and leadership. Experience resolving challenging customer situations with professionalism, honesty, and accountability.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple software systems. A growth-minded approach with a desire to improve processes, develop employees, and achieve results. Passion for leadership, teamwork, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
RV or marine industry experience is not required. What Matters to Us: Beyond experience, we're looking for someone who shares our values and understands that a successful department starts with strong leadership. Character: You do the right thing, communicate honestly, and take responsibility when things go wrong. Humble, Hungry, and Smart: You're willing to listen and learn, have the drive to succeed, and understand how to work effectively with people.
Passion: You take pride in your work, enjoy leading others, and appreciate the outdoor lifestyle. Teamwork: You build relationships, support other departments, and understand that success is a team effort. Growth: You challenge the status quo, look for ways to improve, and help others reach their potential. Family: You value a family-oriented workplace and understand the importance of balancing professional success with personal life.
Profitability: You understand how operational efficiency, employee performance, and customer satisfaction contribute to the success of the business.
