Position Summary

The Infrastructure Engineering Manager is responsible for technology design, selection, and maintenance in alignment to business initiatives. The individual leads the team that operates Redwood’s cloud and on-premises infrastructure, endpoint fleet, and network, and acts as an escalation point for day-to-day operations.

This position is responsible for delivering technology solutions that are fault tolerant, cost effective, and scalable across development, test, and production environments, and for the disaster recovery and business continuity capability behind them. Our direction is set. We are consolidating on Azure, moving from manually built infrastructure toward code and pipelines, standardizing the endpoint fleet, and shifting routine operational work into automation and managed services.

The team is a mix of internal engineers, contractors, and vendor resources, so a meaningful part of this role is deciding what we build, what we buy, and what we hand off. The successful candidate works closely with security engineering, application development, and data teams, participates in overall technology planning, and owns the working relationship with our Azure managed services partner.

Responsibilities

& Duties Lead and grow the infrastructure engineering team, including internal staff and contract or nearshore engineers, and set standards for documentation and handoff. Provide design and configuration management leadership across infrastructure domains, delivering solutions that are fault tolerant, cost effective, and scalable.

Own the Azure environment, including landing zones, subscription and tenant governance, networking, identity integration, compute, storage, and cost management. Drive the shift to infrastructure as code and pipeline-based delivery using Terraform or Bicep with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions so that environments are reproducible and changes are reviewable.

Operate the remaining on-premises and hybrid footprint, including Windows Server, virtualization, storage, and network, and lead decisions on what migrates and what is retired. Own backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity, including regular restore testing and documented recovery objectives agreed with the business.

Manage the endpoint program across Windows and macOS through Intune, covering imaging, patching, configuration baselines, and hardware standardization. Oversee monitoring, alerting, capacity, and performance planning, and reduce recurring manual work through automation. Partner with security engineering to implement infrastructure-layer controls, support SOX IT general controls and audit evidence requests, and close vulnerability and patching commitments on schedule.

Manage vendor relationships, licensing, renewals, and a portion of the infrastructure budget, and bring forward the cost and risk tradeoffs behind renewal decisions. Maintain documentation, standards, and service management discipline across change, incident, and problem management. Establish off-hours and on-call coverage that is sustainable for the team.

Other duties as assigned. Required Experience & Education Bachelor’s degree related to Computer Science, Business, or Information Systems preferred, or equivalent experience and certifications. Ten or more years leading design and support of enterprise-level infrastructure, including at least two years leading a team or acting as a technical lead with delivery accountability.

Strong Azure experience across networking, identity, compute, and governance, ideally including a migration or consolidation effort. Expertise in operational stability and uptime, disaster recovery and business continuity, capacity and performance management, and data center migrations. Depth in Windows Server, Active Directory and Entra ID, virtualization, storage, and enterprise networking.

Demonstrated experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD, and the judgment to sequence automation work by value. Endpoint management experience with Intune across both Windows and Mac. Experience managing vendors and managed service providers, including holding them to service levels. Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks, and experience managing a project or serving as a project team lead.

Expert scripting knowledge in Power. Shell, Python, or similar languages. Ability to set and change priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies. Strong written and verbal communication, including negotiation with vendors and plain explanation of outages, risk, and cost to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

Experience in financial services, mortgage, or another SOX-regulated environment. Familiarity with Fortinet, SASE, or modern network security architectures. Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, data platform infrastructure, or supporting AI workloads on Azure. Experience managing offshore or nearshore engineering teams. Azure certifications such as Solutions Architect Expert or Administrator Associate.

Compensation

& Benefits A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $180,000.00 200,000.00. The actual salary offer will depend on job-related factors including education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and experience. Core. Vest also offers a competitive benefits package including discretionary corporate bonus program, multiple health plans, STD and LTD options, company-sponsored life insurance, fitness reimbursement, paid parental leave, volunteer time, Paid Time Off, ESPP, and 401(k) matching.
