Fall Play Director (26-27 School Year)
Job description
Position Title: Fall Play Director, Middle School Reports To: Director of Fine, Visual & Performing Arts and Middle School Administration Coordinates with Directing Staff Season: Fall Position Summary Stipend Responsibilities Select (in collaboration with appropriate staff) and direct the annual fall play production. Organize and conduct student auditions and casting.
Plan and lead rehearsals for the production. Develop rehearsal schedules and maintain a clear rehearsal calendar for students and families. Prepare students for technical rehearsals and performances at the school. Collaboration with Production Staff Work collaboratively with school staff and volunteers to support the artistic and technical needs of the production.
Coordinate timelines for production elements such as costumes, simple sets, props, and lighting as appropriate for the production. Communicate production needs and deadlines to members of the production team. Communication and Organization Maintain clear communication with students and families regarding rehearsal schedules, expectations, and performance information.
Assist with coordination of performance logistics including programs, basic publicity, and communication with the school community. Support promotion of the production within the school community. Student Leadership & Educational Support Foster a supportive and inclusive rehearsal environment that encourages high levels of student participation and teamwork.
Guide students in character development, acting techniques, and stage performance. Encourage student involvement in backstage or technical roles when appropriate. Support students in developing confidence, collaboration skills, and an appreciation for theatre.
Qualifications
Experience directing theatrical productions, particularly at the secondary level. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with technical staff and performing arts colleagues. Experience working with and mentoring middle school students Ability to lead rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances outside of the regular school day.
