R&D Engineer

Job Description: The role of the Regioanl DRY Technology Specialist is to lead the implementation of new raw material, new process and new product in APAC region factory network from raw material reception to cooling process. The Regional DRY Technology Specialist is responsible to deploy R&D specifications needed for manufacturing of DRY product on existing manufacturing standard and for new technology to achieve process specifications conformance and finished product specifications conformance .

His/her functional perimeter is Regional, including mainly ROYAL CANIN sites and PETNUTRITION manufacturing network when needed. R&D specifications stands for product specifications and process specifications including: Specifications related to raw material processing, Specifications related to products (Quality Attributes, Key Quality Attributes) Specifications related to process flow, process sequence and equipment parameters settings, Specifications related to application of food safety standard and quality control.

The Regional DRY Technology Specialist is the R&D leader for DRY technology of Royal Canin in APAC region that shares the DRY technology expertise of Royal Canin with the EUROPE or AMERICAS or APAC region PPI community. Lead of DRY INDUSTRIALIZATION pillar in APAC region, The Regional DRY Technology Specialist supports the Industrialization process in the APAC region by delivering DRY Technology expertise.

More precisely, as R&D product and process leader of the region, the Regional DRY Technology specialist will be part of following activities: Support execution of Industrial test runs needed for innovation plan deployment or portfolio transfer from a factory to another. Deliver guidance on SRC definition. Support any regional must do projects like product quality improvement, Do It Best project, Business continuity project or Sustainability project.

Responsible to realize the regional IRA for successful Implementation of new raw material, new process and new product. In case of regional QUEST project, the regional DRY Technology specialist may lead regional QUEST project and manage herself/himself Ideation phase, Industrialization phase and Launch phase of the QUEST project.

Lead complex problem solving (troubleshooting level 2) related to raw material, product and process. She / he is in responsible to defines robust methodology and build project team and to lead investigations, follow-up test run, analyse data and set-up reports following DMAIC & 6 Sigma methodology. Lead DRY PRODUCT and DRY PROCESS CONFORMANCE in APAC region , The Regional DRY Technology Specialist is responsible to transfer and ensure conformance of R&D specifications related to Royal Canin DRY manufacturing standard.

More precisely, the Regional DRY Technology Specialist will be part of following activities: Lead deployment of process specifications related to DRY manufacturing standard in place and ensure conformance.

• Check and manage conformance of our process specifications. Escalate gaps and challenges with global functions.
• Drive continuous improvement to maintain process under control and capable.
• Lead and validate process specifications modification in region. Lead deployment of product specifications related to DRY manufacturing standard in place and ensure conformance.
• Check and manage conformance of our product specifications. Escalate gaps and challenges with global functions.
• Support Q&FS team on continuous improvement project for excellence on product quality, and reduction of Non-Quality Cost.
• Lead and validate product specifications modification in region (QA/KQA) Support R&D specifications validation related to new raw material, to DRY manufacturing standard upgrade and to new DRY technology. The Regional DRY Technology Specialist supports the definition of new R&D specifications through test run planification and follow-up. She/he is part of DEVELOPMENT phase of QES project and SCALE-UP phase of TRL project to:
• Feedback global DRY Technology specialist on the test plan /and trial allocation
• Be part of the Global IRA to share regional inputs
• Coordinate and plan industrial test run. Establish industrial test run report
• Support "Final IRA" and "Final R&D Specifications" creation She/he is part of VALIDATE & LEARN phase of QES project and DEPLOYMENT phase of TRL project to:
• Validate commissioning (process and product validation)
• Feedback DRY Global Technology specialist on Implementation of R&D specifications for commercial production Lead DRY Process Validation and DRY product Validation for new equipment and new line commissioning
• Is the R&D CVS representative on the region
• Follows the pre-requisites actions to process validation (part of WET commissioning) as requirement for HO0 signature
• Validate detail design for project implementation (Define Raw Material silo & Scale mapping, portfolio allocation per line, etc.)
• As part of CVS project, is responsible to define and communicate the detailed plan and resources required to validate implementation of any Royal Canin product in the entire Royal Canin and Pet nutrition production line network on high and low complexity project (new factory, new grinding line, new extrusion line perimeter)
• Is responsible to convert standard validation protocols (process + product) into operational validation protocols per line/system/subsystem/equipment to support CVS process for all standard equipment from inbound to cooling process (packaging is excluded).
• Deliver training on process principles (process flow, principle theory, equipment added value, raw material specifications, process specifications, ….) and product quality and performance (product specifications, quality attributes checks, production sequences rules, …).
• Support CVS team and PPI on protocol execution on site
• Establishes reports for after protocols completion and monitor activities progress
• Is responsible of Hand Over 1 (HO1) signature on small/minor project. Support DRY Global Technology specialist for Hand Over 1 signature on major/corporate project.
• On start-up phase she / he supports SRC implementation, product ramp-up, portfolio implementation (raw material & product),
• Consolidates process & product validation lesson learned
