Special Instructions to Applicants This position is fully onsite at the UCLA Westwood campus. Applicants for this position must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed. Department Summary The Office of the Chancellor at UCLA serves as the central executive authority, guiding the university's strategic vision and ensuring the fulfillment of its mission in education, research, and public service.
The chancellor shapes the campus's strategic plan and oversees a substantial budget, managing a diverse community of over 43,000 students, 4,300 faculty, and 42,000 staff members.
Position Summary
The Director of Operations will provide executive support, communications and PR support, financial management and reporting, and event coordination for the Faculty Director. You will lead and direct activities relating to the oversight and administrative workflow for the Faculty Director. As the Director of Operations, you will interact with high level campus constituents, including donors, campus administration, and the academic community with tact and diplomacy.
You will build relationships to expand external partnerships and development opportunities, and will also manage the relationships with external partners, donors and grant agencies on behalf of the Faculty Director. A key component of the role will be to plan and coordinate events with partners ranging from meetings to academic conferences and colloquia domestically and abroad.
Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications
High-level administration experience advising senior management and/or overseeing complex programs and projects at a large company or public institution. (Required) Highly developed skill in both verbal and written communication to address sensitive, complex, and broad ranging issues in a university setting. Ability to work independently in a consultative, collaborative manner with the campus leadership.
(Required) Demonstrated ability to provide high level consulting, relationship building, innovation, and strategic skills required. (Required) Expert ability to clearly and logically analyze qualitative and quantitative information, trends, and policies. Ability to develop broad assessments and initiatives as well as more focused plans, solutions, and approaches.
(Required) Ability to work independently, accept challenging circumstances and take initiative to solve problems where solutions may not be readily apparent. (Required) Active listening skills and the ability to communicate in a direct and persuasive manner with the highest levels of university administration. (Required) Ability to handle sensitive organizational issues with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
(Required) Demonstrated leadership abilities to establish and achieve organizational goals. (Required) Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
