TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in education and/or related field
2. Valid educational license
3. Appropriate endorsement and/training for assigned course(s) SUPERVISES: N/A REPORTS TO: Supervising Administrator JOB GOAL: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including, but are not limited to:
4. Provides quality work that engages students in learning
5. Possesses knowledge of subject matter content
6. Recognizes and responds appropriately to individual differences in students
7. Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels
8. Implements adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals
9. Plans lessons in a logical sequence
10. Demonstrates knowledge of the subjects to be taught and the relationship to other subjects
11. Reflects on teaching and devising ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis
12. Collaborates with other educators to create the most complete educational environment possible for students
13. Uses a variety of assessment techniques and/or models to evaluate student performance
14. Uses formative assessment to improve instruction
15. Assumes responsibility for all students to ensure adequate yearly progress as determined by local, state, and federal standards
16. Participates in the referral-to-placement process for students being referred for Child Study
17. Utilizes technology in the teaching and learning process
18. Provides a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning
19. Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management
20. Relates to parents and other community members, individual and corporate, in a positive and helpful fashion
21. Writes, speaks, and presents instruction in a clear, concise, and well-planned manner 19. participates in self-initiated and school/district-initiated professional growth in order to maintain licensure and support school improvement efforts
22. Adheres to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines
23. Submits required reports efficiently, promptly, and accurately
24. Accepts responsibility for, and inventories classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment
25. Accepts the responsibilities of co-curricular and extra-curricular duties as assigned by administration
26. Participates in departmental/grade-level teams, school-level teams, and district-level committees as requested
27. Attends school-related functions (e.g. PTA) outside the instructional day
28. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
29. Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
