Custodian - YMCA

Your Mission

Help keep the Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA spotless, safe, and ready for action. As a part-time Custodian (Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM; $9-$12/hr) at 800 Village Road, you’ll protect the member experience by keeping spaces clean, secure, and welcoming.

Key responsibilities include

cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas; wet/dust mopping, vacuuming, dusting, window washing, floor care/maintenance, and trash removal/recycling; operating custodial equipment (mops, vacuums, buffers, pressure washers) and other motorized/non-motorized tools; set-ups for activities/events; restocking supplies; and recording, reporting, and following up on repair needs while using cleaning chemicals safely.

Qualifications/skills:

• Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods and safe chemical handling
• Attention to detail; able to read manuals/instructions and keep basic records
• Independent worker with stamina; able to lift/move up to 50 lbs

How Your Shift Flows

Your weekday shift kicks off with a quick check of the day’s schedule and priority areas. You’ll move through the building with a steady rhythm-staying alert for anything that could impact safety, jotting down maintenance notes as you go, and coordinating quick updates with your supervisor when something needs attention. Between tasks, you’ll reset your cart, and top off supplies. By the time members arrive for their next class or family activity, the facility feels crisp, organized, and ready-because you were there making it happen.
