Software Development Engineer in Test

$170k to $275k

Remote (US)Full-timePosted Sep 10, 2026

Job description

THE ROLE When software runs a clinic's admissions, notes, and billing, a bug isn't an inconvenience: it's a missed claim or a clinician who can't sign a note. You'll own how we keep quality high while shipping in days, across an AI-native platform where some of the most important outputs come from LLMs and agents. You'll be one of the first people on the team focused on this full time, so the approach is yours to define.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Build and maintain automated testing across the stack and wire it into CI/CD so we ship with confidence
  • Design ways to test non-deterministic systems: LLM outputs, agents, and AI features in clinical workflows
  • Find the edge cases, race conditions, and compliance gaps in billing and scheduling before customers do
  • Work with engineers while features are being built, not after
  • Set our testing philosophy and the tools the whole team uses WHAT WE LOOK FOR - 4+ years of experience (ideally 8+) in software engineering or test automation
  • Sharp, fast problem solving and the curiosity to learn how behavioral health workflows really work
  • Deep ownership: you take it personally when something broken reaches a customer
  • Solid engineering fundamentals and an automation-first instinct
  • Interest or experience in evaluating AI systems
  • You want to work hard on problems that matter DETAILS
  • Remote within the US
  • Base salary $170K to $275K plus equity, based on level of experience ABOUT EASE Ease is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, which led our $41M Series A to build the AI-native operating system for behavioral health. Behavioral health providers typically run their business on 6 to 10 disconnected tools for admissions, clinical documentation, and billing. Ease replaces all of them with one platform: CRM, EHR, and revenue cycle management on a single patient record, with AI doing work that used to take entire teams. We serve independent clinics and large multi-location provider groups across the country, covering every level of care from outpatient and IOP to residential, detox, inpatient psychiatry, and medication-assisted treatment. The a16z funding is going directly into product and engineering. The work shows up in patient care. Providers on Ease report documenting 60 to 70% faster, which opens 30 to 40% more sessions on clinicians' calendars, and cutting intake and admissions labor costs by half. When you ship a feature here, a clinic sees more patients the next week. We're a rapidly growing team headquartered in New York City. There are no product managers: engineers talk to customers, decide what to build, and ship it in days. If you want to own a meaningful part of a product that changes how a whole sector of healthcare runs, this is the place.
