RESPONSIBLE TO: Club Site Director GENERAL FUNCTION: The Year-Round M.O.S.T. Program Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and academically enriching after-school learning environment that supports students' academic achievement and overall development. This position leads the daily academic component of the M.
O.S.T. program by providing homework assistance, differentiated instructional support, and creative supplemental learning experiences that reinforce classroom learning while fostering curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. The teacher utilizes positive youth development practices, varied instructional strategies, and hands-on learning experiences to meet the diverse academic needs of elementary-aged youth while maintaining compliance with M.
O.S.T. program requirements and organizational standards. JOB SEGMENTS: Academic Instruction & Homework Support Facilitate structured academic programming Monday through Thursday. Ensure homework completion remains the primary focus of the academic hour. Provide individualized homework assistance and academic support based on each student's learning needs.
Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying academic abilities and learning styles. Monitor student understanding and provide additional guidance when needed. Encourage student independence while developing effective study and organizational skills. Supplemental Learning Activities Design and facilitate engaging supplemental academic activities for students who complete homework early or do not have homework assignments.
Develop creative, interactive, and hands-on learning experiences that extend academic learning beyond worksheets. Incorporate literacy, mathematics, STEM, critical thinking, problem-solving, art integration, educational games, and collaborative learning experiences. Utilize multiple learning modalities, including visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and technology-based instruction.
Foster curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and a love of learning through meaningful educational experiences. Align supplemental activities with age-appropriate academic standards and youth interests whenever possible. Classroom Environment Establish a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment. Promote positive behavior through proactive classroom management techniques.
Build positive relationships with youth while maintaining high expectations for behavior and participation. Ensure a safe and welcoming classroom environment conducive to learning. Student Engagement Encourage consistent participation and active engagement during academic programming. Recognize and celebrate student effort, growth, and achievement.
Support social-emotional development through positive interactions and encouragement. Serve as a positive role model for youth. Program Quality & Compliance Maintain compliance with all M.O.S.T. program requirements and organizational expectations. Ensure academic programming is implemented with fidelity. Prepare instructional materials and learning spaces prior to program activities.
Maintain accurate attendance and required documentation. Collaborate with club leadership and academic staff to support student success. Participate in required training, meetings, and professional development opportunities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPENTENCIES The Academic Success Director must possess the knowledge, skills, and competencies to provide strategic leadership, develop high-quality academic programming, and strengthen organizational capacity across multiple Club locations.
Knowledge of elementary academic content and instructional best practices. Understanding of differentiated instruction and multiple learning modalities. Ability to provide individualized academic support. Strong classroom management and behavior guidance skills. Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to build positive relationships with youth and families. Proficiency with basic educational technology and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace. Commitment to positive youth development principles. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
Florida Teaching Certificate preferred. Experience working with elementary-aged youth in educational or afterschool settings. Experience planning and facilitating engaging educational activities. Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain). Successful completion of all required background screenings and state licensing requirements.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to actively supervise and engage with children in both classroom and recreational settings. Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting instructional materials up to 25 pounds, and maintaining sustained attention in a dynamic afterschool environment. Must possess the emotional resilience, patience, sound judgment, and flexibility necessary to effectively manage multiple priorities while fostering a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
