Responsibilities

Prepare food using established procedures and recipes Determine amount and type of food and supplies required using production systems Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation Set steam table and station; serves or ensures proper serving of food in dining room, nursing unit, salad bar and associate food line if applicable Follow all HACCP protocols and complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards.

Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques. Store food properly and safely, marking the date and item. Maintains storage areas. Ensure all items in all necessary areas are labeled and dated. Correctly prepares all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders. Preps food as necessary. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature and presentation of food are preserved.

Keeps work area net and clean at all times; cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation. Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor Completes food temperature checks before service.

Requirements

Some High School education Some prior experience in related food service is required Must be at least 18 years old, due to Hazardous Occupations Order of the Dept of Labor.
