Highlands Market is a specialty grocery market featuring a variety of products from local suppliers, along with a café offering prepared foods, baked goods, beverages, beer selections, and convenient grab-and-go options. Located near the resort, the Market serves homeowners, resort guests, visitors, and members of the surrounding community. The Highlands Market Staff – Food position supports all aspects of daily market and café operations, including customer service, food and beverage preparation, deli service, cashier responsibilities, stocking, merchandising, inventory, cleanliness, and opening or closing procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides friendly, professional, and attentive service to customers. Assists customers in locating merchandise and answers questions regarding products, pricing, and availability. Operates the point-of-sale system, accurately processes purchases, accepts payments, provides change, and completes customer transactions. Slices deli meats, cheeses, and other products for customer purchase.

Prepares and serves café menu items, including soups, salads, sandwiches, and other prepared foods. Responsible for food prep and making soups. Prepares, stocks, and maintains the gourmet coffee station, ensuring products, supplies, and service areas are clean, organized, and ready for daily service. Handles the display, service, ordering, and sale of baked goods.

Prepares and serves snacks, beverages, and to-go orders. Properly packages, wraps, and bags merchandise and prepared foods for customers. Stocks shelves, displays, counters, coolers, and other merchandise areas as needed. Maintains attractive product displays and merchandising areas to promote sales and create an inviting shopping environment.

Prices, labels, marks, and tags merchandise as required. Organizes and maintains merchandise displays, including folded or hanging retail merchandise as applicable. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of shelves, counters, café areas, workstations, display areas, and floors. Calculates and applies approved sales discounts and promotional pricing when applicable.

Assists with maintaining accurate inventory records and monitoring stock levels. Communicates low-stock items and product needs to management to support ordering and product availability. Follows established food-handling, sanitation, cleanliness, and workplace safety practices. Helps maintain a clean, organized, fully stocked, and guest-ready Market throughout each shift.

Works cooperatively with other team members to support efficient daily operations and a high standard of customer service. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Customer Service Expectations Team members are expected to create a welcoming experience for every customer by maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor, responding promptly to customer needs, maintaining product knowledge, and taking ownership of the cleanliness and appearance of the Market.

Be willing to learn and perform duties across retail, café, deli, coffee, stocking, and cashier operations Culinary experience is a plus.
