ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist families and program staff with organizing and leading sports activities Help supervise participants during practices, games, and events Encourage teamwork, good sportsmanship, and positive behavior Support skill development through drills, demonstrations, and encouragement Help set up and take down equipment before and after activities Ensure participant safety by following YMCA policies and procedures Serve as a positive role model for youth participants Communicate respectfully with participants, parents, and YMCA staff : QUALIFICATIONS: Interest in working with youth and supporting community programs Enthusiasm for sports, fitness, and healthy lifestyles Reliable, responsible, and punctual Ability to work well as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Previous sports experience (playing or coaching) is helpful but not required Must complete YMCA volunteer application and background screening PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, and be active for extended periods Ability to lift and carry light sports equipment Willingness to participate in active indoor and/or outdoor environments TRAINING & SUPPORT: Coaches' orientation to YMCA mission, values, and policies Youth Protection Training in accordance with YMCA guidelines OSHA and general safety training requirements Program-specific sports training and instruction Ongoing guidance and supervision from YMCA staff Access to resources and professional development opportunities
