A Snapshot of Your Day The HV Substations Engineer is responsible for the Primary engineering design activities required for high voltage substation projects, including conceptual design and detailed engineering deliverables. Likewise, work collaboratively with the sales/bidding department to propose technical solutions tailored to customer needs during the offer phase.
This position will offer the ability to directly apply candidate’s knowledge of electrical engineering in substation and transmission projects.Reviewing project design criteria and prioritizing tasks for ongoing projects. Develops one-line and station auxiliary one-line diagrams for modernization, extension, upgrades and new solutions for Substation.
Attend internal project team meeting to discuss the general arrangement, layout, and elevation drawings for the substation. Share progress and address any design concerns.Perform calculations for grounding and cable ampacity to ensure the substation meets safety and performance standards. Document the results and integrate them into the project’s overall design.
Review manufacturer documentation for equipment specifications to verify compatibility with the project’s requirements. Make notes on any discrepancies that need further investigation. How You’ll Make an Impact Propose technical solutions that are tailored to the customer needs during the proposal phase and are technically viable, innovative, and competitive.
Develop project design criteria, prepare main one line and station auxiliary one-line diagrams, develop grounding drawings.Develop substation/switchyard general arrangement, layout and elevation drawings, BOMs, perform cable ampacity, grounding, lightning, illumination and station auxiliary load calculations. Review and approve manufacturer's documentation.
Main equipment’s selection (Power transformers, Breakers, Disconnectors, VT/TPs, etc.) During the execution phase, participate in the different meetings with providers and customers in order to get approval for electromechanical engineering.What You Bring Electrical Engineer or Electromechanical Engineer with 5 or more years of experience, with a focus on primary electrical design for high-voltage substations, particularly AIS technology.
Experience with equipment typically used in substations. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Micro. Station, or Revit.Strong communication and technical skills for interdisciplinary collaboration with engineers, customers, suppliers, and Project Managers.Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines, with strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of ANSI and IEC standards.Conversational English proficiency.Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time. About the Team.
