Job description
About The Energy Authority The Energy Authority is a public power-owned, nonprofit corporation with offices in Jacksonville, Florida, and Bellevue (Seattle), Washington. TEA provides public power utilities with access to advanced resources and technology systems so they can respond competitively in the changing energy markets.
Through partnership with TEA, utilities benefit from an experienced organization that is singularly focused on deriving the maximum value of their assets from the market. Join Our Team as a Project Lead, Business Systems! At The Energy Authority (TEA), our business moves fast. We operate at the intersection of energy markets, technology, clients, and innovation-and keeping all of those pieces moving together takes more than project management.
It takes someone who can see the big picture, connect the dots, anticipate what’s coming next, and turn complexity into coordinated action. We’re looking for a Project Lead, Business Systems to serve as a program-level integrator across TEA’s business systems, vendor partnerships, operational initiatives, and market-driven changes.
This is a highly collaborative role that sits at the center of Client Services, Operations, IT, vendors, and leadership, helping ensure projects and system changes are aligned, sequenced, communicated, and delivered successfully. If you’re someone who thrives on bringing order to complexity, enjoys working across teams, and can confidently move a project from “What are we doing?
” to “Here’s how we’re getting it done,” this could be the role for you. What You’ll Do Own the Big Picture Serve as TEA’s program-level connector, maintaining visibility across vendor initiatives, system enhancements, operational changes, and strategic projects. Coordinate project sequencing, dependencies, cross-team impacts, and release timing to keep TEA’s systems and operations moving cohesively.
Build and maintain project roadmaps and release calendars that align business priorities, vendor capacity, market requirements, and organizational needs. Bring structure to project intake, scoping, estimation, resource planning, testing readiness, and release governance. Establish consistent release-readiness practices, including documentation, change control, testing, and acceptance.
Identify operational risks and dependencies early and bring the right people together to address them before they become problems. Lead Projects from Idea to Execution Prioritize, coordinate, and deliver cross-functional projects through structured project governance. Facilitate project meetings, workshops, working sessions, and stakeholder discussions.
Set clear expectations with project teams, vendors, leadership, and business stakeholders. Coordinate resources and keep teams focused on milestones, deliverables, and outcomes. Coach and motivate project team members and contractors through influence and collaboration. Develop leadership updates, dashboards, risk assessments, project communications, and release updates.
Represent projects and releases at portfolio councils and leadership forums. Evaluate dependencies, coordinate readiness, and support proactive risk management. Connect TEA with Our Vendors & Energy Markets Lead structured monthly vendor meetings focused on roadmaps, capacity, priorities, releases, and upcoming needs.
Translate vendor release information into clear, actionable guidance for TEA teams. Help ensure vendor priorities and capabilities align with TEA’s strategic direction and operational requirements. Monitor regulatory and market-driven changes and coordinate the operational and system impacts across teams. Lead coordination of market-mandated changes, ensuring appropriate testing, readiness, and acceptance.
Keep TEA prepared for what’s coming next-not just reacting to what’s happening today. Be the Connector Serve as a trusted point of connection across Client Services, Operations, IT, vendors, and business leadership. Provide clear, consistent visibility into project status, risks, dependencies, metrics, and release timing.
Build strong relationships across the organization and create alignment among teams with competing priorities. Communicate complex information clearly and confidently with leaders and employees at all levels. Help strengthen TEA’s culture of accountability, collaboration, and execution. What Makes You a Great Fit You’re organized without being rigid.
You’re strategic but know how to get into the details when needed. You can walk into a room with multiple teams, competing priorities, and a complicated problem-and leave with everyone aligned on what happens next. You bring: A Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred. Experience leading cross-functional projects and coordinating organizational change.
Experience working with vendors and managing vendor relationships. Strong project governance, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. The ability to influence without direct authority and bring people together around a common goal. Experience navigating complex systems, operational processes, and competing priorities.
Experience with Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems preferred. Knowledge of Allegro, Power. Optix, OATI, Microsoft 365, and SharePoint preferred. Additional experience across multiple products or systems may qualify for senior-level opportunities. Why TEA? At TEA, you won’t be managing projects in a silo.
You’ll have a front-row seat to how technology, energy markets, operations, and people come together to power our business. This is an opportunity to make a visible impact-creating the structure that helps teams move faster, improving how we manage change, strengthening our systems, and helping TEA prepare for what’s next.
If you’re energized by complexity, passionate about getting things done, and naturally the person who connects the dots, we want to hear from you. Come help us energize what’s next at TEA. TEA Values TEA employees share a common sense of purpose. When TEA accomplishes its mission, the result is improved quality of life for the citizens and businesses of the communities our clients serve.
TEA employees exceed the expectations of those they serve, deliver services with the highest standards of fair, honest, and ethical behavior, set the standard for service and expertise in our industry, embody a spirit of collaboration, and embrace TEA’s founding entrepreneurial spirit by seizing opportunities to deliver value.
If you are self-motivated, driven to deliver excellence, and passionate about your career, TEA is the perfect place for you. It’s YOUR Future. It’s OUR Future.
