Job description

Full-Time Personal Trainer — Certified or Ready to Get Certified Anytime Fitness | Columbia, MO

Turn your passion for fitness and your ability to connect with people into a rewarding career.

Anytime Fitness in Columbia has been locally owned and operated since 2006. We’re looking for an outgoing, motivated individual to help our members build confidence, reach their goals, and Get to a Healthier Place®.

Already a certified personal trainer? We’d love to meet you. Looking to enter the fitness industry? We welcome applicants who are ready to learn and earn an accepted, nationally recognized personal training certification within three months of hire.

Service Industry Experience Is Welcome

If you’ve worked in restaurants, hospitality, retail, or another customer-facing role, you may already have skills that make a great trainer: building relationships, understanding people’s needs, delivering excellent service, and helping others feel welcome.

Bring those strengths and a genuine interest in fitness. We’ll provide paid onboarding, study support, mentorship, and sales training to help you grow.

About the Role

This position combines one-on-one and small-group coaching with a substantial focus on selling personal training, following up with leads, and building a client base. You’ll receive leads and scheduled consultations while also taking an active role in creating new opportunities.

You’ll help members find the right training program, support them through their workouts, and build relationships that keep them motivated and engaged.

Compensation, Benefits, and Schedule

  • Total compensation of $20–$27 per hour, combining hourly base pay, sales commissions, and compensation for training sessions delivered.
  • Guaranteed hourly pay for administrative work.
  • Paid onboarding and work while pursuing certification.
  • Paid time off.
  • Free gym membership.
  • Certification study support and trainer mentorship.
  • Sales training and ongoing professional development.
  • Continuing education opportunities through Club Connect.
  • Full-time schedule: Monday through Thursday afternoons and evenings, plus Saturday mornings.

What You’ll Do

  • Coach members in one-on-one and small-group training sessions.
  • Conduct fitness consultations to understand members’ goals, experience, and needs.
  • Recommend and sell personal training programs that fit members’ goals and abilities.
  • Follow up with leads, prospective clients, and current members.
  • Build your client base through consistent outreach, great service, and strong relationships.
  • Create engaging workouts tailored to each client’s fitness level and goals.
  • Track progress, celebrate achievements, and help clients stay accountable.
  • Support client retention through regular communication and continued encouragement.
  • Contribute to a welcoming, upbeat, and supportive club environment.
  • Participate in ongoing education, coaching, and team development.

What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine desire to help people improve their lives through fitness.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with people from different backgrounds.
  • Comfort with sales, follow-up, and working toward goals—or a willingness to learn.
  • Reliability, initiative, and a positive, coachable attitude.
  • Availability for the listed schedule.
  • A current, accepted nationally recognized personal training certification, such as NASM or ACE, or the ability to earn one within three months of hire.
  • Current CPR/AED certification before beginning to train clients.

Helpful Experience

  • Customer service, restaurant, hospitality, retail, or sales experience.
  • Personal training or small-group coaching experience.
  • Familiarity with fitness apps or club management software.

Previous professional fitness experience is welcome, but it is not required.

Ready to Apply?

Submit your resume and a brief introduction explaining why you’re interested in helping others through fitness. Include any relevant customer service, sales, or training experience and your current certification status.
