Mealtime Companionship for Dementia Care – HammondCare Wahroonga
Job description
Volunteer Opportunity – Support Mealtimes for People Living with Dementia Hammond. Care Wahroonga – Aged Care Home Do you have a caring nature and a bit of time to spare? We're looking for compassionate volunteers to support residents living with dementia during mealtimes at our aged care home in Wahroonga. By assisting at 12pm (lunch) or 5pm (dinner), you’ll help create a calm, supportive, and enjoyable dining experience.
This may include helping residents to the dining room, offering encouragement during meals, and providing a warm, friendly presence. Your patience, empathy, and kindness can make a real difference to someone’s day. What’s involved: Volunteering during mealtimes (12pm or 5pm daily – choose what suits you) Supporting residents with gentle encouragement and conversation Being a calm and reassuring presence Whether you can give your time once a week or more often, your support will be truly valued.
Join our team and bring dignity, comfort, and connection to mealtimes for people living with dementia. Your impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

Requirements
18 years or older
- NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by Hammond. Care Ideally you will be available for an hour (or longer) at 12pm or 5pm to assist with meal times Monday to Friday (weekdays only).
