Job Title: Roastery Barista Department: Enterprise Programming Classification: Part-Time/Non-Exempt Reports To: Roastery Assistant Manager Direct Reports: None Position Summary The Roastery Barista is responsible for mastering and serving beverages such as coffee, tea, and specialty beverages. They are also responsible for taking customer orders.

Position Qualifications For Employment with Oliver Gospel A believer in Jesus Christ Affirms without reservation Oliver Gospel’s Statement of Faith Fully supports Oliver Gospel’s Mission and Vision Statements Ability and desire to work in harmony with other Oliver Gospel employees Be on time and ready to work at the assigned work location on every scheduled day of work Due to sensitivity for potential impact upon Oliver Gospel’s Recovery Residents, the use of tobacco and/or vaping products is not permitted during scheduled work hours or at any Oliver Gospel event Valid South Carolina driver’s license For the Roastery Assistant High School Diploma Experience as a Barista Customer service experience Passion for all things coffee Teachable, with ability to teach guests, and volunteers, coffee related skills Ability to interact well with clients facing homelessness, addiction, or hardship Position Responsibilities Courteously greeting and assisting while anticipating customers’ needs Preparing and serving food items and beverages by following Roastery-approved recipes Promoting and recommending menu options to customers with goal of upselling Maintain knowledge of trends in the coffee industry Handle customer service issues in a professional manner Operate point of sale devices with financial accuracy and integrity Answer phone calls and communicate in a professional manner Store opening/closing as scheduled and adhere to opening/closing procedures Maintain cleanliness of entire store by picking up, straightening, cleaning, and organizing Check if brewing machines are operating properly and report any maintenance needs to management Welcome and actively work along volunteers and OG Works participants Ensure compliance with DHEC sanitation and food safety regulations Assists in maintaining proper inventory of coffee, food, and roastery supplies Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor Core Competencies Strong focus on consistent coffee quality Excellent customer service skills Excellent attention to detail Strong multitask abilities Passionate coffee advocate and trainer Mental and Physical Demands Ability to work in a changing, growth-oriented environment Ability to concentrate and apply mental processes Ability to work with disruptions, critical issues and emotional individuals Ability to operate with a positive attitude amid adversity Ability to move seamlessly from one task to another Ability to participate in travel experiences Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time Ability to move about inside the facility to engage employees, residents and/or guests Ability to frequently lift, carry, push and/or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to engage in limited exposure to health-related issues including colds, viruses, etc.
