Senior Frontend Engineer | Streaming Experience Player

At TV4, technology, innovation, journalism, sports and entertainment meet. We are building the Nordics' largest streaming service, reaching around eight million Nordic people every week through TV4 Play and our Finnish counterpart MTV Katsomo. Within Product, Tech & Operations we develop the technical solutions that make it possible to stream content, search and get recommendations, so that people can enjoy all of our content whenever and wherever they want.

We are now looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer who, with the support of AI, designs, builds and maintains our player experience on all platforms, from architecture decisions to implementation. Before you apply To be considered, you need to already have the right to work and reside in Sweden and be able to work office-first from Stockholm.

About the team

Streaming Experience Player is the team that makes sure users have a best-in-class experience from the moment they press Play: fast and reliable video playback, engaging UX and seamless ad integration on every platform. Although the team's focus is clear, its area of responsibility is broad. A video player has many moving parts, and a typical day might involve anything from low-level performance optimisation to bouncing UI ideas off a designer.

Knowledge sharing and growing together is a natural part of how we work. We build the playback layer natively and the UI layer in native frameworks and React/React Native. The playback layer includes code for DRM, ABR, ad playback, networking and analytics, while the UI layer is the interface between the player, our users and the rest of the app.

What you will do

As a Senior Frontend Engineer you will work closely with others in the team and in the rest of the organisation. You will collaborate with both frontend- and backend-focused teams to deliver the best possible experience to millions of viewers. You will be responsible for our solutions from start to finish: from idea to implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement.

AI is a central part of how you work throughout this process, from tailored development tools and debugging to well-tested, production-ready code. You will, among other things: Build and maintain high-performing video players for Android, Android TV, iOS, tvOS and web-based platforms such as browsers, Chromecast, LG and Samsung TV Work agentically throughout the development lifecycle.

We work with Claude Code and OpenAI Codex today, and everyone is expected to actively work on optimising how we use today's and tomorrow's AI tools Write design documents and technical specifications as a basis for well-grounded decisions Take ownership of observability and monitoring for the video players you build About you You are an experienced frontend or fullstack developer with a genuine interest in user experience, quality and modern development methods.

You enjoy complex technical problems, but are ultimately driven by creating products that work better for the user. We also believe that you: Have at least five years of experience in modern frontend development, and can see the big picture around your technical solutions and how they fit into a larger context Have experience of a fast-moving environment where self-leadership is essential Understand that technical decisions are rarely black and white, and actively look for the right balance Have fully embraced AI as a tool to boost your own and your team's delivery Love diving deep into things that interest you, whether it is distributed systems, AI or cooking.

You get restless when you stop learning Are a good communicator who can explain complex concepts in a simple way Experience with Android development in Kotlin is an extra plus, as we want to strengthen that competence in the team.
