Cost Controller

Nyrany, CZEFull-timePosted Oct 15, 2026

Job description

Description At Ranpak, sustainability has been in our DNA since our founding in 1972. Our goal then was to create the first environmentally responsible system to protect products during shipment. Today, our mission remains the same: to deliver sustainable packaging solutions that help improve supply chain performance and costs, reduce environmental impact, and support growing business needs globally.

As a Cost Controller, you turn manufacturing data into clear insights into production costs, inventory and financial performance. Your focus is cost control within our manufacturing organization, with responsibility for cost accounting, variance analysis and accurate inventory valuation. You join the EMEA Finance controlling team and report directly to the Cost Controller.

You work closely with the Czech team, Operations and Finance colleagues, with regular contact with our EMEA headquarters in the Netherlands and corporate headquarters in the US. You also interact with manufacturing colleagues in the Netherlands and APAC. This role offers a steep learning curve in an international manufacturing environment.

A structured internal training and onboarding programme will help you understand our business, systems and processes and develop further within cost controlling.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the month-end manufacturing cost accounting close and coordinate, analyse and report financial data from manufacturing operations. Calculate, enter and post general ledger transactions in SAP. Review and validate automated postings and complete manual transactions where required. Prepare standard-versus-actual cost reports, investigate variance drivers and work with Operations to resolve issues and reduce variances.

Develop standards for material, labour and overhead costs with the Plant Controller and Operations. Prepare the annual standard cost roll-up and support budgeting and forecasting. Perform inventory valuations, support inventory counts and reconcile inventory and other assigned balance sheet accounts. Analyse bills of material and production routings, and take ownership of SAP Finance inventory master data.

Support internal and external audits and SOX requirements through accurate records, clear documentation and effective financial controls. Build working relationships across manufacturing, explain financial findings and challenge decisions respectfully when they do not meet financial rules. Contribute to regional and global Finance projects and ad hoc analyses.

How to succeed in this role You combine attention to detail with clear communication and independent judgement. You enjoy working with colleagues across Finance and Operations, while remaining confident enough to say no when a request conflicts with financial controls. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.

Around five years of relevant experience in controlling or cost accounting, with an interest in developing further within Ranpak. Financial Controllers, Site Controllers and Business Controllers with relevant manufacturing cost experience are also welcome to apply. Hands-on SAP experience is essential, together with very good Excel skills and the ability to analyse large datasets.

Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of cost accounting, bills of material and inventory analysis. Experience with manufacturing month-end closing is preferred; knowledge of US GAAP is a plus. Strong organisational skills, a structured approach to documentation and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a SOX-controlled environment.

A practical approach to solving problems, a collaborative attitude and the confidence to uphold financial rules when working with management. A driving licence and willingness to travel at short notice, mainly within Europe, approximately one to four times per year. Flexibility to work beyond standard office hours when deadlines or business needs require it, including occasional meetings with US colleagues outside local working hours.
