Job description

Description A plumbing journeyman is a skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in residential settings.

Key Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures and systems, including pipes, water heaters, and drainage systems. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine the layout of plumbing systems. Troubleshooting: Diagnose plumbing issues, conduct inspections, and identify leaks, blockages, and other problems.

Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes and safety regulations. Client Communication: Communicate with Master Plumber to explain plumbing issues, provide cost estimates, and ensure satisfaction. Mentorship: Oversee and mentor apprentice plumbers and less experienced workers.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program in plumbing. Licensing: Valid journeyman plumber license is required. Experience: Typically requires 3-5 years of experience in the plumbing field. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials; ability to troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues effectively.

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks. Communication Skills: Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact with clients and explain plumbing issues clearly. Attention to Detail: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure compliance with plumbing codes and regulations.
