Maxime’s is a private members club by entrepreneur Robin Birley, located on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, New York City. We are seeking an experienced, polished, and hospitality-driven Maître D' to join our reception team. Reporting to the Reception Manager, the Maître D' is responsible for creating exceptional first and last impressions, managing reservations and guest flow, and ensuring a seamless dining experience for members and guests.

This role requires a warm and confident presence, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for delivering personalized service at the highest level.

What We're Looking For

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following and may change or be adjusted at any time: Provide a warm, gracious, and professional welcome to all members and guests. Manage reservations, seating arrangements, waitlists, and table allocations to maximize guest experience and operational efficiency.

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of member preferences and special requests. Coordinate closely with Reception, Floor Managers, and service teams to ensure seamless guest flow and communication. Handle guest inquiries, requests, and concerns with professionalism and discretion. Ensure members and guests are recognized and addressed appropriately.

Review reservations, guest lists, special occasions, and function sheets prior to service. Maintain accurate reservation records and guest notes within the reservation system. Uphold the club's service standards, policies, and member experience expectations. Support the training and development of reception and hosting team members.

Foster positive relationships with members and guests while consistently anticipating their needs. Complete additional duties as assigned by management. Guest Experience & Ambience Ensure the reception and entrance areas are impeccably maintained and presented at all times. Monitor the arrival experience to ensure a welcoming and elegant atmosphere.

Assist in maintaining appropriate lighting, music, and overall front-of-house presentation standards. Work collaboratively with operational teams to create memorable and personalized experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

(Education, Experience, Skills) Minimum 2 years of Maître D', Head Host, Reception Supervisor, or similar guest-facing experience in a fine dining restaurant, luxury hotel, private club, or hospitality venue. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

Professional appearance and polished demeanor. Experience using reservation management systems. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong problem-solving skills and a guest-first mindset. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
