Pueblo Viejo - Quarry Development Lead
Job description
Quarry Development Lead Barrick is looking for a Quarry Development Lead to join the Projects team . This role will be responsible for the development and establishment of a new Diorite Quarry, leading key aspects of the operation including resource model interpretation, pit design, drilling and blasting, load and haul activities, production planning, and material supply coordination.
The role will work closely with various stakeholders to integrate quarry development, resource definition, drilling and blasting requirements, production planning, construction material supply, and operational resourcing into an effective delivery strategy. This is an opportunity to establish and develop a quarry operation from the early stages, ensuring strong alignment between technical, operational, and project requirements.
Responsibilities
Review project construction material requirements and confirm forecast demand. Assess potential material sources, including the identified quarry area. Review available geological information, drilling data, test results, and historical investigations. Identify information gaps and develop additional investigation requirements where needed.
Work with Planning, Engineering, and Construction teams to develop an integrated quarry development plan, including layouts, extraction sequencing, staging, production requirements, and alignment with construction demand. Develop drilling and blasting strategies and production assumptions. Develop material production schedules aligned with project construction requirements.
Define QA/QC requirements for quarry development and material production. Ensure long-term quarry readiness to support project requirements.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in quarry development and drill and blast for large-scale earthworks projects. Experience supporting major infrastructure, dam, TSF, or mining developments. Strong understanding of construction materials, production planning, and quarry operations. Demonstrated ability to move projects from planning through execution.
Experience building and leading quarry or mining teams would be highly regarded. English, required; Spanish, preferred .
