- Day (United States of America) Range: UR URG 109 Compensation Range: $56,500.00 - $79,100.00 The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities
Performs professional accounting work with responsibility in one or more areas of the University accounting system, such as financial reporting, cost analysis and distribution, classification of accounts and funds, study of accounting systems and sponsored programs accounting. Supervises the work of subordinate technical and clerical employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops and recommends policies and procedures for accounting systems and financial reporting. Reviews financial data processed through accounting systems to isolate problem areas. Analyzes problem and makes recommendations for modifying or developing new segments of an accounting system, including associated accounts, records, reports, and controls for approval at higher levels.
Prepares instruction for changes in accounting systems. Interprets accounting systems data output, provides consultative service to University officials, and, as required, trains academic and administrative staff in accounting matters related to their respective areas. Prepares routine reports and special reports tailored to informational needs of University Officers, indicating the current or projected status of funds.
Designs financial reports and statements for University management reflecting fiscal operations of specific programs. Interprets trends and projects data into the future. Prepares reports for submission to Federal and State agencies regarding status of sponsored projects. Performs cost finding analyses for use in recommending rates for redistribution of costs or recovery from third party sponsored programs.
Performs analyses and tests necessary to ascertain integrity of accounting data, account balances, and timeliness of reporting. Makes day-to-day interpretations and decisions on the accounting treatment of financial transactions. Monitors special purpose funds. Establishes accounting classifications, prepares reports in the status of such funds for department, investigators, and deans.
Develops systems of controls. Consults with internal and external auditors on matters such as definition and classification of accounts, accounting activity in educational and research programs, and other technical aspects of the University accounting system. Organizes schedules and supervises the work of assigned employees engaged in a variety of accounting procedures.
Assists or advises peers on more difficult problems and interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
