POSITION SUMMARY

The Harrisburg University DPT program is a hybrid 3-year program. Lab assistants support the core and adjunct faculty during on-site lab experiences. DPT program lab immersions are scheduled in 4-to-7-day blocks of time, typically in late February, mid-April, early July, mid-August, mid-October, and late November. Lab assistants are involved in the development and evaluation of the learners within the educational principles and policies and procedures of the DPT program.

Lab assistants are required to participate in annual DPT program training and development activities. Training and development sessions occur in a hybrid format quarterly and in conjunction with scheduled on-site lab immersion sessions annually. __________________________________________________________________________________________ KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provides demonstration of psychomotor skills to learners Works cooperatively and under the direction of the DPT core faculty member/course instructor Provides constructive feedback in a way that enhances learning Evaluates learner performance given a grading checklist or rubric Assists in grading written work as needed as related to patient documentation Monitors and supports the activities of learners to ensure that standard policies and practices are followed; enforces all lab safety protocols Provides training and assistance in the use of equipment to ensure efficient usage Provides input and contributes to the coordination, implementation and evaluation of individual courses and overall curriculum within the college as requested Participates in faculty development/training Performs other duties as assigned or required __________________________________________________________________________________________ EXPECTATIONS OF ALL STAFF Applies best efforts and full capability each day to the work assigned by their manager.

Advises the manager when: An assignment is not understood. An assignment conflicts with knowledge of the circumstances, current skills, or available time/resources. Obstacles to completing the assignment exist or are likely to occur. Opportunities to better complete or improve the assignment exist or may occur. Understands and demonstrates our cultural expectations.

__________________________________________________________________________________________ MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS DPT degree or PT (PT or MSPT) degree Minimum of one (1) year full-time clinical experience Active, unencumbered PA Physical Therapy license Knowledge, skill and ability to effectively demonstrate and provide accurate feedback to DPT learners regarding PT exam techniques, interventions, monitoring, and reassessment Effective communication skills Ability to work cooperatively within a faculty team Able to accept constructive feedback Ability to maintain a learner-first focus Adherence to professional standards, including the APTA Core Values and Code of Ethics Ability to facilitate learner acquisition of the skills and abilities required for entry-level clinical practice _________________________________________________________________________________________ WORK HOURS The university work week is Sunday through Saturday.

Most administrative offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. To accommodate the college's business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings. Employees may be required to work overtime.
