Job description

We are looking for a Road Supervisor, responsible for supervising the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of sections of a 120 km mining access road serving a remote mining project in the Amazon region. The role requires strong field leadership, hands-on road construction expertise, and proven experience working in tropical environments characterized by heavy rainfall, challenging terrain, remote logistics, and difficult access conditions.

The successful candidate will lead local work crews, coordinate equipment and subcontractor activities, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and maintain road accessibility to support mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise daily road construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance activities on assigned road sections. Ensure works are executed according to engineering specifications, quality standards, and project schedules. Monitor road grading, drainage installation, culvert construction, embankment stabilization, erosion control, and surfacing activities.

Lead and supervise local operators, laborers, foremen, and subcontractors. Organize daily work plans and allocate resources efficiently. Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team members. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to site procedures. Coordinate utilization of heavy equipment including graders, excavators, bulldozers, compactors, water trucks, and haul trucks.

Monitor equipment productivity and report maintenance requirements. Ensure efficient use of materials and resources. Enforce compliance with company HSE policies and regulatory requirements. Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly. Monitor work quality and verify compliance with project specifications.

Maintain daily progress reports, manpower records, and equipment utilization logs. Assist with planning upcoming work activities and resource requirements.

Requirements

Diploma or Technical Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, Infrastructure, Road Works, or a related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience supervising road construction, rehabilitation, or maintenance projects. Experience on mining access roads, remote infrastructure projects, forestry roads, oil & gas access roads, or similar heavy civil works.

Demonstrated experience working in remote tropical environments with high rainfall and challenging ground conditions. Previous experience managing local workforces in remote locations is essential. Experience in the Amazon, tropical rainforest regions, or comparable environments is highly desirable. Strong understanding of road construction methods and maintenance practices.

Familiarity with heavy earthmoving equipment operations.
