2027 Internship Intake – Naval Architecture & Maritime Engineering 6‑Month Internship starting February 2027 now open Register your interest for 6‑Month Internship starting July 2027 Register your interest for 3‑Month Summer Internships starting from November 2027 Incat Crowther is pleased to invite applications for our 2027 Intern Intakes, offering hands-on experience for motivated students who want to build real-world capability in naval architecture and maritime engineering.
This is not a “watch from the sidelines” internship. You’ll be embedded within our teams, contributing to live projects and learning directly from industry-leading professionals across the full vessel lifecycle. It’s an opportunity to gain meaningful experience in a globally respected maritime design and assurance business.
What You’ll Work On As part of our Digital Shipbuilding team, interns will be exposed to a broad range of projects and technical disciplines, including: Passenger, commercial, defence, offshore, and high-speed vessels High-performance and innovative vessel design Green energy integration and next-generation propulsion technologies Aluminium, steel, and composite vessel structures Introduction to advanced engineering analyses such as: Structural assessment and FEA support Stability and seakeeping fundamentals Powering and performance prediction Full life-cycle vessel design and assurance Collaboration on global projects for an international client base Interns are supported by experienced engineers and naval architects, with structured guidance and real responsibility as skills develop.
Who We’re Looking For We’re seeking enthusiastic, curious, and driven students who are keen to learn and contribute in a professional engineering environment. Required Currently completing (or recently completed) a degree in Naval Architecture, Maritime Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline Available for either: A 6‑month full-time internship, or A 3‑month full-time summer internship (typically over the university summer break) Australian citizenship or permanent residency Strong interest in maritime design and engineering Basic proficiency with AutoCAD and confidence using the Microsoft Office Suite Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative Clear written and verbal communication skills A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail Preferred (but not essential) Exposure to tools such as Maxsurf, Rhino, Ship.
Constructor, or FEA software Previous vacation work, internship, or university project experience in a maritime or engineering environment Interest in high-speed craft, commercial vessels, or defence projects What You’ll Gain Hands-on experience on real-world maritime projects Mentorship from industry-leading naval architects and engineers Exposure to the full vessel lifecycle — from concept to assurance Development of practical engineering, communication, and professional skills Insight into career pathways within a global maritime consultancy High-performing interns may be considered for future graduate or ongoing roles as the business continues to grow.
