Position Summary

The focus of the Field Service Engineer is to install, commission, service, and repair Monroe Environmental air pollution control and water and wastewater treatment systems at customer sites. This is accomplished through hands-on troubleshooting, equipment start-up and run-off, customer training, supplier inspections, and collaboration with operations, engineering, project management, shop fabricators, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, start-up, and commissioning of company manufactured systems at customer facilities, including scrubbers, dust collectors, mist collectors, wet ESPs, clarifiers, separators, thickeners, air strippers, fans and ductwork, mist eliminators, tanks, pumps and piping, filtration systems, chemical feed equipment, and associated controls
  • Performs in-house and on-site run-offs (factory and site acceptance testing) to verify systems meet design specifications and performance requirements
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control system failures, including PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, valves, and analyzers
  • Determines appropriate repairs/resolution, balancing downtime, cost, and long-term reliability
  • Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, calibrations, upgrades, and retrofits on installed equipment
  • Resolves routine problems and collaborates with engineering and project management for timely resolution of all punch list items
  • Serves as a primary customer contact on technical and service-related issues
  • Trains customer operators and maintenance personnel on safe operation, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting
  • Performs in-process and final inspections at subcontractor and supplier facilities to verify workmanship and conformance to drawings and specifications
  • Prepares service reports, inspection reports, start-up checklists for internal and external customers in a timely manner
  • Identifies opportunities for spare parts, service agreements, and system upgrades
  • Follows all required safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, PPE, confined space, etc.
  • Maintains tools, test equipment, and spare/replacement parts Additional duties as identified by team members . Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Working knowledge of industrial equipment and systems: o Pumps, piping, valves, and hydraulic principles o Fans, blowers, ductwork, and airflow principles o Motors, VFDs, starters, and control panels o PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation (pH, ORP, level, flow, pressure) o Chemical feed and dosing systems
  • Proficiency with typical hand and power tools and test instruments such as multimeters and pressure gauges
  • Ability to travel up to 70%, including overnight stays and occasional weekends
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain a passport
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, climb ladders and platforms, work in confined spaces and at elevated heights, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Experience working in industrial facilities a plus: o Chemical/Petrochemical o Automotive/Aerospace/Machining o Food & Bev o Mining o Municipal/Government o Energy o Pharmaceutical o Steel and Metals o Refineries (Oil & Gas) o And many others
  • Literate in English, with excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple customers and projects
  • Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

Requirements

Education

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering; or Associate degree or technical certificate in electromechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance technology, or equivalent military training preferred
  • Three to five years of field service, maintenance, or industrial equipment experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience with air pollution control or water and wastewater treatment equipment a plus
  • OSHA 10/30 or similar safety training a plus
