Position Description : Nursing faculty are professionals with the education and practice skills to prepare the next generation of nurses . Faculty members are accountable to the Dean/Director of Nursing for the implementation of the approved curriculum based on the mission and philosophy of the nursing program and the College/Campus .

They provide students with opportunities to acqu ire the knowledge and practice the skills iden tified in course obje ctives usi ng varied and appr opriate teaching met hods . They plan learning activities to meet program outcomes based on the standards set by policies, legal and other regulatory requirements, and acceptable practice .

Faculty also part icipate in the program’s evaluation and continuous improvement process and engage in personal professional development.

Requirements

Completion of an a ccredited professional nursing education program. A current active unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of NY or a multistate privilege to practice in NY . A master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program (Practical Nursing programs, BSN may be acceptable depending on local need).

Previous teaching experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills. Excellent teaching and classroom management skills Functional abilities to carry out classroom, clinical, and laboratory teaching responsibilities Competence in clinical skills in the areas of teaching Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.
