Job description

OVERVIEW
This is a full-time role at USCRI’s Arlington, VA office. The Development Associate, Donor Services and Engagement serves as the primary coordinator for donor services, gift processing, donor acknowledgments, and constituent data management. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of donor records, delivering exceptional donor stewardship, and supporting fundraising operations across the organization.
In addition, the position assists with donor cultivation efforts through prospect research, portfolio support, donor communications, email fundraising campaigns, and donor journey initiatives. This role offers opportunities for professional growth in fundraising, donor engagement, and major gifts development while maintaining a strong foundation in development operations.
Development Operations & Donor Services (65-70%) Serve as the primary administrator for Every. Action ensuring data accuracy, consistent coding practices, and overall database integrity. Process all charitable contributions, including gift entry, batch reconciliation, donor record maintenance, and gift acknowledgments.
Generate and mail donor thank-you letters and tax receipts in a timely manner. Respond to donor inquiries and provide excellent customer service to donors and supporters. Reconcile monthly gifts with Finance and investigate discrepancies. Produce donor, campaign, revenue, and board reports. Manage donor lists, segmentation, exports, and mailing files for fundraising initiatives.
Donor Engagement & Communications (15-20%) Assist with development and deployment of fundraising emails and donor communications. Support donor stewardship activities, including welcome communications, retention efforts, and impact reporting. Help manage donor journeys and engagement workflows across multiple channels.
Assist with direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns. Major Gifts & Research Support (15-20%) Conduct prospect research to identify and evaluate potential major donors. Prepare donor profiles, briefing documents, and prospect summaries for development leadership. Track donor engagement activity and next steps within Every.
Action. Assist with cultivation events, donor meetings, and stewardship activities.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising operations, donor services, advancement services, gift processing, or nonprofit development. Demonstrated experience managing donor records within a CRM and processing charitable gifts with a high degree of accuracy. Experience conducting prospect research or supporting major gift fundraising efforts preferred.
Experience drafting donor-facing communications, fundraising emails, or stewardship materials preferred. Self-starter with ability to work well in a team, juggle multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines; Demonstrated commitment to the mission of USCRI and interest in the development field.
